On July 17, 2008, I had the great privilege of seeing Lloyd in person present the D.C. premiere of Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead, and teach his world-renowned Make Your Own Damn Movie Master Class the following day. As a lifelong fan of Lloyd and Troma, it was a dream come true!!! Poultrygeist is an instant classic: a comic gore masterpiece that combines brilliant social commentary with the funniest, most exhilarating set-pieces ever shot on 35mm. The film positively rocked the audience and had everyone cheering and applauding throughout. I loved every second of it. His Q & A was the icing on the cake of a spectacular night. Lloyd's Make Your Own Damn Movie Master Class inspired me beyond words. To be able to see and hear my favorite director talk about his life in film, his love for the art of creating cinema, his absolute commitment to his vision moved me immensely. Being an independent musician, Lloyd's renegade ethos and do-it-yourself attitude has always stayed close to my heart. To idolize, respect and admire Lloyd is of course normal, but to see this revolutionary film icon in person expanding on the power that staying true to one's own personal vision has on artistic and spiritual freedom has without a doubt invigorated me to make my own damn movie! I had the immense honor of meeting Lloyd at both appearances. He is the kindest, funniest, smartest, most generous legend I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.
